If you are ever in Martin, TN and are not on a diet try a cool restaurant we found called The Grind. We decided we did not want to get up early for the drive, so we went up from Memphis the night before and stayed overnight in Martin, TN. The park is located in Union City, TN so if you live in the area, it is an easy day trip from Nashville, Memphis, Jackson, and Dyersburg in Tennnessee and Paducah and Murray in Kentucky. From the 100,000-square-foot museum to to beautifully landscaped 50 acre heritage park outside, there is such a wide variety of interesting nature, science, technology, history, and art displays and hands-on activities that there really is something for everybody. According to their website, the mission of Discovery Park of America is to inspire children and adults to see beyond. Discovery Park of America, located near Reelfoot Lake in West Tennessee, has something for all ages. Here is the link so you can explore the different activities to have and what the park is like.We have been wanting to visit Discovery Park ever since we heard about it when it was first built, and we were not disappointed. My advice to you my readers is to make a schedule and take some time to plan so you can see everything in one day or stay the night and go both days. There was truly so much to look at and not enough time to take all the pictures and visit every single thing within this massive park. They also a torture chamber showing the various methods of torture throughout history. In this exhibit they had the cars, the whole military exhibits that showed airplanes, tanks, and uniforms. They even have an earthquake simulator and a “secret door” behind a bookcase which shows guest their “enlightenment” exhibits. I would be writing all day if I told you everything they had to offer. The Discovery Park of America had three stories of pure fun and who knew science could be fun. Kids can slide down this humongous figure as many times as they want, even adults. This 3 story slide in the shape of a human holding a ball is one of the park’s main features. This SS was my favorite car and reminded me of my dad who use to own one a long time ago. Each car they had represented an era and how cars have evolved over time. The park had an awesome showcase of cars throughout history. In this picture the smoke from the bottom of the rocket expelled before you hear take off. You can simulate take off by pushing a few buttons. So, let me tell you about this little or rather large rocket display. This particular one shows predator and prey. This was my favorite Mesozoic era display. I was impressed with each of their exhibits. This gargantuan bear is the first thing you see upon entering the building.Įvery single dinosaur exhibit was immaculate and very clean. You will see a chapel, some water features, a small settlement, a huge garden, and a train depot that we missed due to the overwhelming amount of things to look at. When you first pull up, you see these little towns within the park. The park is only open from Tuesday through Sunday with time of 10:00am-5:00pm. I must warn you however that this park will take all day to be prepared. Discovery Park of America is located in Union City, Tennessee near the tip of the Tennessee and Kentucky line border. I have been looking for one day family outings and this place is perfect for that. ![]() I am ashamed of myself for not discovering this place a long time ago. We went to this little place called Discovery Park of America and it is only 3 hours from Nashville. I am a tad bit late on this particular post seeing how this day trip I planned was during the kids spring break.
